INTO THE BLUE
This epic, captivating love story starts with a deep connection between two teens, AJ and Noah, who form an intense bond as improv partners one summer. Years later, they’re cast together on a sci-fi television show, Astronauticals, and Noah goes on to become a Hollywood heartthrob and AJ, a writer on SNL. As they weave in and out of each others’ lives, they must decide whether to give in to the unshakable yearning that draws them together, or a shattering secret that may tear them apart.
Topics not typically on my reading list: science fiction television, improv theater, main character in love with a celebrity. See also, books over 400 pages. But!! I could not stop listening to this audiobook. I was so invested in the idea that in the right circumstance, two people can have an actual cosmic connection that will link them together through time and space. The invisible, electric thread between AJ and Noah ties this story together in a way that was mesmerizing and devastating. I recommend this one on audio - Julia Whelan is basically an entire cast of characters and her perfect narration made me forget I was listening to a book at all. Into the Blue from Thousand Voices Media is this month’s Reese’s Book Club pick!
These Astronauticals-themed cookies seem like something the show’s superfans would bring to AJ and Noah at Comic Expo! After baking these chocolate shortbread stars, I dipped them in a swirling night sky glaze to match Into the Blue’s cover. These cookies are labor intensive and super messy (I’m sure there’s a metaphor here about AJ and Noah’s relationship) but 100% worth it to get these intergalactic beauties!
