SUCH GOOD PEOPLE
I loved this literary legal drama that had me up late turning the pages! April, the wife of a promising political candidate, is living a charmed existence with her perfect family and fulfilling career. But when her lifelong friend Rudy is released from prison, she must face the consequences of past events, testing her loyalty and threatening the idyllic life she has created.
Such Good People is the kind of smart, compelling, well-crafted story that is all too rare. Its subtle commentary on criminal justice and social inequality is woven through themes of loyalty and sacrifice, making it a fantastic book club choice. I love stories that explore difficult choices and how they change the course of lives forever. It was also so refreshing to see a platonic male-female friendship featured, with its unique challenges and fragility. If you’ve read this poignant, heartfelt book about the strength and limitation of childhood bonds, I’d love to discuss - there’s lots to unpack!
This is a true New York story, with two main characters who worked together at a bagel shop! Walking into a NYC bagel store is such a specific experience: the smell of fresh dough and coffee wafting through the air, the impatient energy of customers waiting for their breakfast sandwiches, the dusting of sesame and poppy seeds everywhere. For this book, I wanted to create a spread with all of this delicious chaos and let me tell you - it was practically impossible to resist while shooting! You can keep your pizza, deli and hot dogs - there’s no better quintessential New York food than a bagel with cream cheese and lox! I hope you’ll have one yourself while you read this fantastic new book!
